Dr. Gilian Wharfe is a renowned expert in genomic genetics, specializing in the identification and characterization of genetic variants associated with hereditary diseases, particularly cancer. With over 50 publications and more than 18,000 reads, Dr. Wharfe has made significant contributions to the field of oncogenetics and cancer epidemiology, with a focus on breast and ovarian cancer in the Caribbean population.
Dr. Wharfe's research primarily revolves around elucidating the genetic underpinnings of breast and ovarian cancer in the Caribbean population. She has led pioneering studies investigating the prevalence of inherited cancer syndromes and the impact of pathogenic variants on disease development and progression.
Dr. Wharfe's research has significantly contributed to our understanding of cancer genetics in the Caribbean population, paving the way for improved diagnosis, treatment, and prevention strategies. Her work has also been instrumental in enhancing healthcare services for individuals with hereditary diseases, such as hemophilia.
